Before going to the Maldives, we spent the first part of our honeymoon in Bali, Indonesia. We split time between Seminyak near the coast and in the hills of Ubud.
We stayed in a private villa (with a private pool) at the W Hotel in Seminyak and enjoyed the local towns as well as the beach and pools at the resort. We visited the nearby Tanah Lot and Taman Ayun temples.
After a few days there, we headed to Ubud in central Bali. We stayed at Villa Semana, a tranquil and small resort that feels like you’re staying in someone’s home rather than a sprawling resort. The most memorable part of our trip to Ubud was when our hotel’s manager, a Swiss guy named Jurg, offered to take us on a private bike tour around the area. We rode through rice terraces and down pathways we never would have discovered on our own.
